Differences between the 2017 Ford Explorer and 2017 Kia Sorento

One of the biggest differences between these two models is the amount of power each can offer. The 2017 Ford Explorer comes standard with a 3.5L V6 engine with 290 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque. Th2 2017 Kia Sorento falls behind here with its smaller 2.4L I-4 engine with only 185 horsepower. Sure, the Kia Sorento can match with its available 3.3L V6 with 290 horsepower, but the Explorer has two more engine options, including a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 with 365 horsepower.

The impressive power in the 2017 Ford Explorer can allow for up to 5,000-pound trailer but the Kia Sorento once again falls behind with its max 3,500-pound trailering rating. Both models do, however, have some good tech features on the inside. For example, both the Explorer and Sorento are compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
