As a platform, the Ford Expedition is a lot of things, subtle is not one of those things. As one of the last truck-based, body-on-frame SUVs still in production, the 2018 Ford Expedition in Burlington, VT has picked up several upgrades and new features to keep it at the forefront of this highly capable class of the automotive industry. For 2018, Ford has given the new Expedition more power and torque for towing as well as a new 10-speed automatic transmission. In terms of outright capability, the 2018 Expedition has demonstrated a better towing capacity and cargo space measurements than the Chevy Suburban and GMC Yukon. Additionally, the driver's cockpit has picked up a new instrument panel and several new stand-alone accessory packages have been made available.

To provide the kind of performance necessary to accomplish what the 2018 Ford Expedition in Burlington, VT is designed to do, a special powertrain had to be developed. Each of the three basic trim grades XLT, Limited and Platinum use the same engine, a turbocharged, 3.5-liter, V-6, making 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. All of the available versions use the 10-speed automatic and offer a choice of rear- or four-wheel drive. Performance figures are little different on the top-of-the-line Platinum trim, where Ford has chosen to up-tune the engine to make 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. An extended-length version of 2018 Expedition, has also been produced. When properly equipped, the 2018 Expedition can tow up to 9,300 lbs.

However, this version of the 2018 Expedition bundles together a couple of accessory packages and adds front parking sensors, retractable running boards and heated second-row seats. At the top of the lineup sits the Platinum trim.
