There are few more well-regarded platforms in the compact car class as the Ford Focus. The automaker has continually found innovative ways to keep the model fresh and cutting edge. For the new model year, the 2018 Ford Focus near Burlington, VT continues to build on its reputation for posting better than competitive fuel economy scores, hosting some of the manufacturer's most advanced connectivity and infotainment technology as well as continuing to offer both sedan and hatchback body styles. Heritage Ford customers will have a lot of options available to find the version of the 2018 Ford Focus that works for them. In addition to the two body styles of the Focus that are being produced, Ford also offers the model in four trims with increasing levels of refinement and standard equipment.

Ford engineers have provided potential buyers of the 2018 Focus with several engine options to choose from. Which powertrain set up they get will depend on which body style and trim combination they want. The base S trim is only available as a sedan and uses a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine making 160 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque with a five-speed manual transmission. A six-speed automatic gear-changer is optional. Buyers consider the SE trim can have either the sedan or hatchback. However, sedan versions use a turbocharged, 1.0-liter, three-cylinder engine with either a six-speed manual or automatic; hatchbacks use the previously mentioned 2.0-liter power plant. The hybrid version of the Focus and the high-performance ST and RS trims use their own engine setups but will be profiled separately.
