F-150 Hybrid Release Date

It has been confirmed that Ford is indeed making a hybrid F-150 and that it is due to hit the showrooms in the next few years. Ford’s F services pickup trucks have been one of the best selling trucks in the U.S for many years now and Ford is working very hard to create a hybrid full-size pickup truck. The F services trucks are Ford’s best selling vehicles and they are committed to increasing fuel economy and reducing greenhouse gases.

According to Ford’s CEO, the gas-electric pickup will be rear-wheel drive and use a conventional hybrid drivetrain rather than a plug-in setup. The company has already moved toward EcoBoost engines and lightweight aluminum construction and adding a F-150 hybrid is the next logical step. Though gas prices have been dropping, hybrid vehicles have become increasingly popular over the last few years and we think a Ford F-150 hybrid will be a great addition to the Ford hybrid family.

2016 Ford F-150 New Design

The 2016 Ford F-150 shows some already made adjustments to the engine and design to make the F-150 more fuel efficient. The frame and body has been redesigned with aluminum which results in a 700 pound weight loss which gives the 2016 Ford F-150 better fuel efficiency, greater towing and payload capabilities, improved power to weight ratio for fast acceleration, enhanced handling and braking responsiveness. The 2.7 Liter EcoBoost engine option has the highest EPA estimated fuel economy ratings of any gas powered light duty pickup with 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

While we are not expecting the Ford F-150 hybrid to arrive until 2020, we are excited to see the progress and final result of the full size hybrid pickup truck. Stay tuned for updated information on the F-150 hybrid and check out our blog for other information on Ford vehicles.
