How many devices can connect to Ford’s wi-fi hotspot?

Among the most impressive additions to the capabilities of the Ford Sync 3 infotainment system is its ability to transform into a high-speed mobile hotspot. Owners who spend a lot of time on the road never need to worry about having to find an open wireless internet source to stay in contact with work, family or friends. With this new feature fully available in several 2018 models, the only question that remains would be, how many devices can connect to Ford’s wi-fi hotspot? Without hesitation, Heritage Ford can confidently answer that, everyone in the car will be able to stay connected.

“SYNC Connect allows travelers to stay connected and entertained on the go,” Don Butler, executive director, Ford Connected Vehicle and Services said in a press release. “The new Wi-Fi hotspot capability will allow kids to easily watch movies and listen to music, or, if you’re on the job, to quickly send emails and access the web from wherever you are.”

What do I need to know about Ford Wi-Fi?

The first Ford vehicle that was outfitted with its new wi-fi hotspot was the 2018 Ford Expedition. This is significant for a couple of reasons: One, the new Expedition has one of the highest passenger capacities of any vehicle in its class. Two, every person in the 2018 Expedition will be able to connect a wi-fi-compatible device to the new hotspot. In fact, up to 10 devices can use the secure wireless internet signal at the same time.

What company provides the wi-fi signal?

When Ford was looking for partners to provide its customers with high-speed, wireless internet access, the automaker went to the best in the business, AT&T. Not only does AT&T offer one of the most expansive networks in the mobile data industry, but there are also a few plans available to help vehicle owners get the most of this new capability. Heritage Ford customers who choose to take home a new Ford vehicle with Wi-Fi capability will get a trial data package for three months or up to three gigabytes whichever comes first.

Furthermore, AT&T customers may be able to combine their existing data plans into using the new wi-fi capability offered by Ford vehicles. Be sure to contact an AT&T customer service representative for more details.

Anyone who would like to see the new Ford Wi-Fi system in action can come to the Heritage Ford showroom for a live demonstration.
