Diesel engine specs for the 2018 Ford F-150

The Ford F-150 has been the most capable and bestselling full-size pickup truck in its class for more than 30 years. When the automaker was teasing the updates, it was adding to the 2018 model one of the more blockbuster announcements was that the F-150 would eventually be available with a diesel engine for the first time. The automaker has finally gotten around to releasing information about the diesel engine specs for the 2018 Ford F-150. Just as everyone in the Heritage Ford showroom predicted, the addition of this new power plant will serve to widen the gap between the latest F-150 and the rest of the segment.

Is this a brand-new engine?

Ford’s lineup of Super Duty pickups has featured diesel engine options for years. When the manufacturer’s engineers were starting to develop the new diesel power plant for the F-150, they used the existing family of Power Stroke engines as a place to start. Ford has used new turbocharging technology with the reimagined diesel engine which reduces turbo lag and provides a better balance between overall performance and fuel efficiency.

When can I buy the 2018 F-150 with the diesel engine?

Heritage Ford can start taking orders for the 2018 Ford F-150 featuring the 3.0-liter, Power Stroke V-6 later this month. The trucks will be available to be picked up this spring.

Which trims offer the new diesel engine?

Buyers looking to adds the new turbocharged diesel engine to their 2018 Ford F-150 will be able to choose between two- and four-wheel-drive models. Additionally, it will be available for the following trim grades: Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum.
