Engine Options in the 2018 Ford Expedition
Unlike many other Ford SUVs, the 2018 Ford Expedition actually only has one available engine. However, this isn’t actually a bad thing, because we couldn’t imagine any other engine under the hood of the 2018 Expedition. The new expedition will come powered by a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine that comes standard with the fuel-saving Auto Start-Stop feature. The Expedition will also feature a class-exclusive 10-speed automatic transmission, which provides smooth shifts and steady acceleration.
The Expedition is no stranger towing to traveling off-road. For those who require a bit of extra grip and handling, the Expedition can be equipped with Intelligent four-wheel drive, which increases its off-road capabilities. According to Ford, around 15 percent of Expedition owners will tow weekly or monthly. We’re expecting to see some pretty impressive towing numbers, since the previous model could handle a trailer up to 9,200 pounds. We don’t have official numbers yet, but the move to an aluminum body is shaving up to 300 pounds from the Expedition, meaning your engine can put more effort into trailering.
