2017 Ford Fusion Safety Rating

In order to qualify for an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick+, a vehicle must earn good ratings in all five crashworthiness tests and have an available front crash prevention system that secures it an advanced or superior rating. The 2017 Ford Fusion earns good ratings in all five crashworthiness tests, resulting in the car winning the Top Safety Pick+ award.

A modified front-end structure and an optional new active braking system helped the 2017 Fusion qualify for the Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS. Like previous Fusion models, the 2017 Fusion earns good ratings in four crashworthiness tests- moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints but the Fusion’s front crash prevention rating improved from basic to superior in the addition of active braking.

2017 Ford Fusion Safety Features and Driver Assistance Features

The 2017 Fusion features great new safety and driver assistance features, making it Ford’s most advanced car yet. New features include pedestrian detection system and hands-free parallel and perpendicular sparking capability. Check out how these new safety features work.
997 × 194Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection: The radar and camera sensor can detect stopped or moving vehicles that are traveling in the same direction as your vehicle as well as pedestrians in front of your vehicle. A heads-up display flashes on the windshield and an audible alert will sound to alert the driver. If you don’t react and the collision is credible, the brakes will precharge and increase brake-assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when you brake. If you do not take correction action and the collision is imminent, the brakes can automatically apply.

Active Park Assist with Parallel and Reverse Perpendicular Parking: Using 12 ultrasonic sensors, the Fusion will scan for suitable parking spaces and can assist in backing the vehicle into the spot, all you have to do is shift, accelerate and brake and the Fusion does the rest. The Fusion can also steer your vehicle out of a tight parallel parking spot with park out assist.
