Family-Friendly Holiday Activities in Burlington

Holiday season is upon us and now that it is December, it is in full force. Christmas trees, baking cookies, decorating the house and hitting up the best local holiday events are a must during the month of December. If you live in or are planning a visit to the Burlington area soon, you are in luck because they are many holiday activities going on in the next couple of weeks. Get all the information here on holiday events and activities going on in the Burlington, VT area this year.  

Light the Village and Train Hop at Essex Junction

This activity is a great way to kick-off the holidays. The village tree lighting begins at 6:15pm and then visit with Santa at the Teen Center. Catch the free trolley shuttle to Maple Street Park for festive lighted trees and music. Explore trains, shops, and fun in downtown Essex Junction. This event is on Friday, December 9th from 6-9pm. 

Holiday Tractor Parade in St. Albans

On Friday, December 9th from 4-7pm come out to the 3rd annual tractor parade in St. Albans. The parade starts at 6pm and then after the parade you can check out the holiday tractors on display. Kids can visit with Santa and get their faces painted for free. See their site for more information. They will also be taking donations of non-perishable food items at all entrances.

Hartford Polar Express

A bit of a drive from the Burlington area but definitely a favorite among children. The Hartford Polar Express is celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, enjoy an exciting train ride along a river to the North Pole. Kids will enjoy the Polar Express story and sing-along while enjoying hot cocoa and homemade cookies. Santa will be there to greet every passenger. This is a very popular event so get tickets soon before it is too late. This event is taking place December 10th and 11th.
